One of the more popular NFL Draft targets for the Minnesota Vikings is Oregon DT Derrick Harmon.
Through the first 10 weeks of the 2025 calendar year, I have collected 321 different mock drafts with 41 unique players being represented. Of those selections, Harmon represented 10% of them, ranking second with 32 selections by the Vikings.
Harmon looks to be in the Vikings' crosshairs according to The Star Tribune's Ben Goessling, who said "I heard that again this week" in regard to him being on the Vikings' priority list.
Vikings have real interest in Derrick Harmon
Goessling continued on about Harmon, as he would provide some needed youth and depth
"I wouldn't be surprised to see them add another defensive tackle. There's a lot of depth, there's a lot of variety in this group, but you have Javon Hargrave and Jonathan Allen both in their 30s. Jonathan Allen coming off the pec injury, Hargrave I think was a tricep, and Allen also had a left knee in the past that I would keep an eye on as well, so you're not talking about these guys being five-year solutions."
He makes a very good point about neither Hargrave or Allen being long-term options for the Vikings. They are both on two-year deals and over the age of 30. They should be a major help for the Vikings this year, but long-term it's a real question mark.
Now, the Vikings do have three young players on the roster in Levi Drake Rodriguez, Jalen Redmond, and Taki Taimani. However, none of them have the profile that Harmon does. This is what I had on Harmon in my scouting report.
Harmon is a talented, versatile player who can do a little bit of everything for you. There are some issues to work through, including getting into a little bit better shape. However, the versatility would be a massive factor in the Vikings being interested.
They need an interior pass rusher, and Harmon's ability to play all across the line would maximize Brian Flores's use of his defensive line.
The usage of the defensive line last year was a problem for many, as it was obvious that Flores didn't trust his unit to deliver when it came to rushing the passer. With both Allen and Hargrave on the team, that should change this season.
Not only are the talent and athletic profile appealing, Harmon wouldn't have to be a day one starter and can learn on the fly, rotating in and out to also keep the defensive line fresh. That should be very appealing for general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, as Harmon is one of the few players reported to have a top-30 visit with the Vikings.
