Florio Says There’s a Different Christian Wilkins Story Making Rounds

Rumors have been swirling for days around (alleged) bizarre behaviors that may or may not have contributed to the Raiders decision to release their star defensive tackle on Thursday.

On Monday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter dropped the story that a former teammate of Christian Wilkins in Las Vegas reported a “playful” kiss from Wilkins to the team’s Human Resources department.

The Schefter report dominated the day, but according to ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio, there’s another story going around that doesn’t line up completely with Schefter’s account.

“While Schefter’s report could be the accurate and definitive explanation as to what actually happened, the version/speculation/rumor that has been making the rounds on the NFL grapevine regarding Wilkins and a teammate isn’t that Wilkins kissed a teammate on the head,” Florio reported on Monday.

Like everyone else, Florio isn’t talking about his version of the story (or more accurately, the one he has been told) that is apparently a little more incriminating.

Florio did, however, imply that his version was close enough to Schefter’s story that the two could have been tied together – or possibly been different accounts of the same event.

“As to the incident, would a reasonable professional football player make a report to H.R. over a teammate allegedly kissing him on the head?” Florio asked. “It seems like an extreme reaction to being kissed on the head. So if an H.R. report was indeed filed, it’s fair to wonder whether the player who made the report has a different version of the events.”

One detail that seems to be consistent over the last few days is that no one associated with the Raiders is talking.

In fact, sources have said there is a segment of the locker room that knew little or nothing about the Wilkins allegations before Monday.
