'Feel better than I ever have' — Veteran Chiefs starter posts encouraging message to social media heading into training camp

Chiefs prepare pass rusher Charles Omenihu's addition to defense

Football season is just around the corner, as the Chiefs will report to training camp in three days.

Kansas City is returning many veterans on both sides of the ball. Among them is defensive lineman Charles Omenihu, who is entering his third season with the Chiefs.

Charles Omenihu posts encouraging message on social media

If you follow Omenihu on any form of social media, you know that he is a very positive and motivated person. As he and the Chiefs gear up for another grueling camp, Omenihu took to X to share his mindset on his seventh NFL season.

It appeared for a time that Omenihu would be moving on from Kansas City during free agency, but the two sides were able to agree on a one-year contract worth up to a maximum of $7 million.

2025 could be the first full season he plays since he was a member of the San Francisco 49ers in 2022. Omenihu's two-year stint with the Chiefs has been a rollercoaster ride.

In 2023 he missed the first six games of the season due to a suspension, but played very well afterwards, recording 31 total tackles, eight sacks, and four forced fumbles. Unfortunately, his season ended abruptly as he tore his ACL during the AFC Championship Game.

In 2024 Omenihu missed the first 11 games as he rehabbed from the torn ACL. He wasn't quite himself when he returned, posting just 15 total tackles and two sacks. However, the fact that he was able to return at all is pretty remarkable, and he should be back to 100 percent after having a healthy offseason.

K.C.'s defensive line wasn't very inspiring outside of Chris Jones last season, so Omenihu getting back to form would help out tremendously. The Chiefs bolstered the unit by signing veteran DT Jerry Tillery during free agency and selecting DT Omarr Norman-Lott in the 2025 NFL Draft. DE Mike Danna will look to have a bounce back season, and Felix Anudike-Uzomah will try to take the next step in his development.
