The world has come full circle for Oilers defenseman Ty Emberson after he was traded from the San Jose Sharks to the Edmonton Oilers where he will be playing for his former head coach Kris Knoblauch.

Earlier in his career, Emberson played for the Hartford Wolf Pack which is the affiliate for the New York Rangers farm team. Knoblauch was the head coach and it seemed that Emberson was unable to break into the lineup of the Rangers as several key players were already present.

«It just proves the point that hockey is a very, very small worldthe way you prepare yourself in one situation my help in another,»

Emberson was drafted by the Arizona Coyotes in the 2018 entry draft, third round, 73rd overall. Afterwards, he was traded to the Rangers for Patrick Nemeth and two draft picks in 2022. A right hand shot defenseman; he will likely see good ice time from Knoblauch as he is slated to replace Phillip Broberg.

Emberson shows great admiration for his head coach as he thinks he is one of the best communicators in the game along with showing confidence for his players.

«I loved my time with Kris. He's very good at understanding players and communicating with us. He didn't want us (defencemen) to chip it out or rim it around the boards. He wanted us making plays. And Steve was awesome as our D coach. We hit it off, same ideas as Knobber, make plays, don't play scared.»
