Uh oh... Now this is what we didn't want to have to talk about. For most of Nick Sirianni's run as Philadelphia Eagles head coach, the goal has been pretty consistent. Don't put the stars or the starters in harm's way. Minimize violent collisions as often as possible. Get as many people to the regular-season in an upright position as you can.
Then came last season's collapse and the determination that more work and physicality might not be a bad thing.
There are positives and negatives to both theories. We get it. The Birds aren't going anywhere if Jalen Hurts goes down. We had no desire to see him during the preseason, but Nakobe Dean is correct. 'Shorts is cute, but that ain't football'. The only way to get better at football is by playing football.
That being said, you always run the risk of injury.
Saquon Barkley leaves Eagles training camp practice with an injury.
With the conclusion of Tuesday's training camp practice, 15 sessions are in the books. That means only two remain before the Eagles host the Minnesota Vikings in the preseason finale and final roster cuts are made on Monday, August 27th.
We're almost at the finish line. Some of the guys are getting healthy, but bad news comes on a Tuesday.
We weren't present, but multiple sources have shared that Saquon Barkley sustained an injury, He took a little longer to get up from the playing surface than desired. He continued to lie there and get stretched out by a trainer. He then moved to the sideline to continue to get his lower back and leg worked on.
11-on-11 drlls followed. Saquon never returned to the field for action. Trevor Keegan also headed inside with a trainer and never returned. We don't have to tell you that we're holding our collective breaths.
Saquon will be featured in Philly's offensive attack this season. Keegan is expected to be one of the reserves along the interior of Jeff Stoutland's O-line.
