Eagles’ Saquon Barkley Huge NFL Penalty Revealed

The New York Giants are readying for a highly emotional Week 7 matchup as they play host to division rival Philadelphia Eagles, a team that now features a familiar face in running back Saquon Barkley.

Barkley, a fan favorite during his time in New York, was allowed to walk in free agency during the offseason, getting the big bucks when he signed a three-year, $37.75 million deal with the Eagles. Oh, and on the eve of Sunday's game, why do the "big bucks'' matter?

Because Saquon just got fined by the NFL for a Week 6 action that they claim was such an illegal "lowering of his helmet into a defender'' (in a win over the Browns) that his penalty is a whopping $45,020.

Barkley's wallet will feel that, at least a little bit. Meanwhile, he has already made his presence felt in Philadelphia, proving to be a key contributor to the Eagles' offense. His 2024 season has started off strong, with the running back recording six rushing touchdowns and four receiving scores for his new team.

In Week 1 against the Green Bay Packers, Barkley scored three touchdowns, becoming the second player in Eagles history to score three times in his debut. However, he has seen a dip since, through the Eagles' first five games, Barkley has 482 rushing yards, four touchdowns, and 17 receiving yards with 1 touchdown.

Now, Barkley is focused on building his legacy with the Eagles, and his upcoming return to MetLife Stadium will mark the first time he faces his former team since the move.

The Giants, who have struggled this season, will have their hands full trying to contain Barkley and the Eagles explosive offense. Meanwhile, Giants fans will have mixed feelings as they watch their former star return in a shade of green.

Despite the presence of Barkley in the backfield, the Eagles have consistently relied on their passing game, offering the Giants defense the chance to attack quarterback Jalen Hurts.

However, it's hard to imagine the Eagles not allowing Barkley the opportunity to make a statement. ... but maybe just not with his "lowered helmet.''
