Details on the tragic car accident that took the life of Vikings' rookie Khyree Jackson and two others have been released

You absolutely hate to report this kind of thing. Minnesota Vikings rookie cornerback Khyree Jackson died in a car accident on Friday per his agent and former high school coach.

Jackson played his college ball at Oregon, Alabama and Fort Scott community college. He had worked so hard to get himself up from the junior college ranks to the SEC and Pac-12. In 2023 he had a big season as the Ducks starting cornerback and netted All Pac-12 honors after getting 34 tackles, two sacks, three interceptions and seven pass breakups.

Jackson had a very impressive showing at the Senior Bowl and wound up drawing interest from many teams. The Vikings took him in the fourth-round of this April's draft and he was expected to carve out a big role in the Vikings secondary over time.

This is a tragic moment and our thoughts are with Jackson's family and friends.

Update: Details have been released by the Maryland State Police. It looks as though the car was struck by a vehicle going at excessive speeds and that "alcohol may have been a contributing circumstance."
