Mercifully, the 2024 Las Vegas Raiders season has come to an end after the team's 34-20 loss at the hands of the Los Angeles Chargers.
While the Raiders had been playing much better of late with back-to-back victories the past two weeks, the sting of finishing the regular season with a 4-13 record certainly doesn't sit well with owner Mark Davis.
Many fans are pointing the finger at Davis himself for putting the organization in this position. Many are also ready to go ballistic if Pierce stays. "I’m about to throw the biggest temper tantrum if the Raiders decide to bring back Antonio Pierce. Like a toddler," one X user said online.
One individual chimed in by pointing to the fact that this is the time of year in the NFL schedule where plenty of head coaches get relieved of their duties. "If Patriots can fire Jerod Mayo, then why can't we fire Antonio Pierce?"
"Not firing Antonio Pierce would be the most unforgivable thing Mark Davis has ever done," said another woeful fanatic.
After the disastrous tenure of Josh McDaniels, owner Mark Davis opted to promote Antonio Pierce to full-time head coach following a 5-4 stint as interim coach. However, Pierce struggled to gain momentum in his first full season, with the Raiders failing to win a single game against division opponents, finishing 0-6 in 2024. With no postseason appearances since 2021, Las Vegas has now posted a combined 18-32 record over three consecutive losing seasons.
Change is certainly inevitable in some sort of capacity moving forward, but will Davis give Pierce one more crack at it in 2025? Ask the fans and a majority of them will give you a resounding no.
