Davante Adams predictably traded to slumping Jets, who play Seahawks in December

The Jets have fired Robert Saleh, demoted Nathaniel Hackett, and now they’ve traded for Aaron Rodgers’ most prolific target.

The New York Jets have lost three straight and are trying to salvage their overhyped Super Bowl chances. Last week they fired head coach Robert Saleh, this week they’re reuniting star wide receiver Davante Adams with Aaron Rodgers.

Adams’ time with the Las Vegas Raiders is over after less than three seasons. Historically, a trade involving the Jets and a played named Adams involves a couple of first-round picks and a market-setting contract extension, but this is not the case. The reported trade compensation is only a conditional third-round pick that could be upgraded to a second-rounder if he either makes an All-Pro team or is active for the AFC Championship Game. New York will be taking on all of Adams’ remaining salary for the 2024 season, which is a little over $11 million. His cap number balloons to over $36 million over the final two seasons of the deal the Raiders gave him when they acquired him back in 2022.

This also means that Adams will land on the Seattle Seahawks’ already very difficult schedule. Seattle faces the Jets at MetLife Stadium on Dec. 1. As bad as things are for the Jets, their next five games before facing Seattle include the Arizona Cardinals, New England Patriots, and somewhat volatile Indianapolis Colts. Their tough games are the Pittsburgh Steelers and Houston Texans, and they’ll be fresh off a bye when they face the Seahawks.

Now the world waits to see what the Jets will do with Haason Reddick...
