Star WR doubles down on HC's ‘business decisions’ criticism of Raiders

Las Vegas Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce walked away from a stunning defeat at the hands of the previously winless Carolina Panthers ready and willing to lay his feelings fully on the table. And by stating his belief that some players made "business decisions" during the team's 36-22 loss to Andy Dalton and company, he created one of the week's biggest talking points in the NFL across the national media.

On Tuesday, Raiders star wide receiver Davante Adams was asked about the comments made by his head coach, and he doubled down on it by agreeing with the statement and even offering his own viewpoint on the Up & Adams show with Kay Adams.

"Well, I mean, I agree. I think at the end of the day, you look at the drives that we had at the end of that game, and we didn't have much to play for other than pride," Adams began. "... Just doing it for the Raiders logo and then the name on the back as well, putting something good on tape just so we didn't look like complete trash out there."

He continued to explain that it was a noticeable issue long before the game was out of reach for the Raiders.

"I think a lot of people were doing that and then there were some guys out there that were just kind of trying to see another day. That's really not what the game's about, and if you look at the tape across the whole game, it wasn't really just late in the game, it was multiple times throughout the three hours we were out there," Adams stated.

As eye-opening as Pierce's comments were, Adams openly stating the issue was there throughout the entire game is even more noteworthy. The Raiders found themselves in a 27-7 hole after three quarters, and Carolina had essentially controlled the game throughout the entire first half.

As poor of a showing as fans witnessed from the Raiders in Week 3, how they respond in Week 4 against the Cleveland Browns will be telling. And if there aren't some drastic improvements in key areas, don't be surprised if Pierce and company opt to make sweeping changes when it comes to playing time at numerous positions.
