Davante Adams admits getting inspired by Lamar Jackson: 'He’s the best ball-carrier ever'

Davante Adams has an idea of how the Las Vegas Raiders should approach games following their opening-day loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. At the center of his master plan is the quarterback, and the blueprint is Lamar Jackson .

Adams, who isn’t one to throw around praise so easily, had lots of positive words to say about the Baltimore Ravens quarterback. The 6x All-Pro wide-out pointed out that Jackson’s style of play has made a massive impact in today’s football.

Dude changed the game. He’s the best, in my opinion, best ball carrier ever—no matter what position you want to talk about. I don’t think anybody’s as big of a threat carrying the football.

Davante Adams said during a recent presser from the Raiders facility

That doesn’t mean Jackson can only use his feet. He possesses other qualities that earned him two league MVPs.

Obviously, he's worked really hard to develop in the other parts of his game, as well, and you've seen that come a long way, too. Davante Adams added

Well, the Raiders quarterback core is completely opposite to the way Jackson plays the game. Both Gardner Minshew and Aiden O’Connell aren’t exactly known for their ball-carrying. Perhaps Adams wants both of his QBs to steal a thing or two from Jackson’s playbook because their run game is one of the weakest in the league. And after Josh Jacobs left, they must rely heavily on Zamir White to gain yards on the ground.

Davante Adams on losing to the Chargers and how the Raiders can bounce back in week 2

The Raiders picked up where they left off in the 2023 season with an underwhelming performance in week 1 of 2024. There were some positives, but one has to cherrypick them from the tape.

Davante Adams only had 5 catches on the day for 59 yards, while Minshew completed 25/33 for 257 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception. The Raiders only managed to score 10 points despite keeping the ball longer than the Chargers and with a better first-down average.

I don't think we got to empty the tank. But we did some good things. Some good stuff to feel OK about. But when you talk about the potential of what it could be, we definitely did not maximize it. But we got a lot of football left. Got to move on. Davante Adams said. (Ht: Sports Illustrated)

Up next, the Raiders will face the tough challenge of Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens at home. September 2021 was the last time these two teams played against each other, with the Ravens coming out as winners, 33-27.

This time the Ravens have -9.5 odds to secure the win at Allegiant Stadium.
