Cowboys' Micah Parsons sends strong message after Eagles' Super Bowl win

Quarterback Dak Prescott generated headlines when he recently said that he believes his Dallas Cowboys are "very close" to being equal with the new Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.

Micah Parsons sends strong message after Eagles' Super Bowl win

Cowboys star pass-rusher Micah Parsons went a different route while speaking about the Eagles' championship run at an event on Thursday.

"This is a [Cowboys] team that, over the past couple years, we kind of got our wins and losses against them, and battled with them," Parsons said about the Eagles, as shared by Patrik Walker of the Cowboys' website. "Obviously, talent is here, but we've just got to finish, and go be aggressive the same way they did, you know?"

Before a noteworthy injury crisis sunk the 2024 Cowboys, team owner and general manager Jerry Jones received criticism from fans and analysts for not adequately bolstering his club's roster last offseason. Jones then somewhat controversially replaced former head coach Mike McCarthy with Brian Schottenheimer, Dallas' offensive coordinator for the past two seasons who never before served as the main man for an NFL franchise, this winter.

Parsons made it known on Thursday he feels the Cowboys "need some call to action" to catch up with the Eagles and other teams that competed in this year's postseason tournament.

"I want to see us be aggressive," Parsons continued, "and I wanna see us get players that's gonna help us — that's gonna come in and make an impact. And I wanna see us bring back our own players that are just as important, and let's see what we can do there."

Specifically, ESPN's Todd Archer noted this week that the Cowboys need another top-tier pass-rusher, a No. 2 wide receiver and some offensive-line help. For a piece published on Thursday, Dan Parr of the NFL's website suggested that Dallas should acquire Cleveland Browns wantaway All-Pro Myles Garrett either before or during the first round of the upcoming draft. However, The Athletic's Jon Machota wrote that he doesn't think Jones would "be willing to give up the draft picks it would cost to obtain Garrett."

Parsons added he wants Jones to find players who are "willing to make an impact" and "wanna play hard." How Jones responds to that "call to action" theoretically could determine if Parsons commits his long-term future to the Cowboys before the 2025 campaign gets underway.
