We've talked ad nauseum about how Micah Parsons should spend more time walking the walk and less time talking the talk.
Now we have some nodding heads in agreement, from two (one by proxy) former Cowboys with Super Bowl rings and busts in Canton at the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Between his podcast, social media and seemingly never seeing a microphone he didn't like, the All-Pro linebacker is more omnipresent off the field than on it.
This offseason he's already chastised Cowboys' owner Jerry Jones for not trading for new Washington Commanders' left tackle, threatened to leave for the Kansas City Chiefs if Dallas doesn't win a Super Bowl by the time he turns 30, and got into a social media shouting match with former teammate-turned-Seattle Seahawk DeMarcus Lawrence.
This week, Lawrence took a shot at the Cowboys on his way out the door to Seattle. He said "I know for sure I’m not gonna win a Super Bowl there."
Ouch. The jibe - of course - didn't miss Parsons, who has rabbit ears when it comes to Cowboys topics.
Countered Parsons, "This is what rejection and envy look like! This some clown (bleep)."
Lawrence returned the volley, "Calling me a clown won’t change the fact that I told the truth. Maybe if you spent less time tweeting and more time winning, I wouldn’t have left."
Double ouch.
But it's not only lowly sportswriters and Lawrence who think Parsons tweets too much. Ring-of-Honor receiver Drew Pearson is chiming in as well.
"Too much social media," Pearson told TMZ. "This would drive Coach Landry crazy, there's no question about that."
That would be Tom Landry, the legendary Cowboys coach who won Super Bowls with class, dignity and tight lips.
"We had issues like this, OK?," Drew said. "There were times I talked noise in that locker room, holding out for money and stuff like that. But we kept it in the locker room, and the reason we kept it there is because it was a locker room issue. Take care of your business on the field, and the other guys will follow suit."
We're not holding out breath that Micah will take anyone's advice but his own.
