For the sixth time in eight weeks, Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels is the Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookie of the Week.
Daniels won the award for his performance in Sunday’s 18-15 win over the Chicago Bears, where he completed 21 of 38 passes for a career-high 326 yards, including the game-winning touchdown pass on a 52-yard Hail Mary.
In case you missed it, here’s the throw:
Daniels’ performance was even more impressive because he did it after barely practicing last week. He suffered a rib injury in the first quarter of the Week 7 win over the Carolina Panthers.
Daniels is completing 71.8% of his passes through eight weeks for 1,736 yards, seven touchdowns and only two interceptions. He’s also rushed for 424 yards and four touchdowns. He’s broken numerous NFL rookie records and team records this season.
At 6-2, Washington is in first place in the NFC East and faces the New York Giants on Sunday.
