Key offensive personnel were re-signed to maintain continuity around the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. Everything is in place, and more help could be arriving before preparations for the new campaign begin.
The Commanders have five picks in the 2025 NFL Draft. That's not the best starting point for Peters, but he'll know how to maximize every resource. There is flexibility to move up and down the board depending on how things shake out. Taking his foot off the gas is not an option.
Expect the Commanders to be aggressive when the draft rolls around. Peters will play the board expertly and strike with conviction when opportunities arise. If he can get Daniels another dynamic weapon in the passing game, the better their chances will be.
Commanders projected to spend second-round selection on Ole Miss WR Tre Harris

He's another big-name wideout out of Ole Miss who could impact proceedings immediately with a smooth transition. However, some injury concerns must be alleviated for Washington to take the plunge.

Harris is an intriguing prospect. He's also drawn interest from the Commanders throughout their comprehensive pre-draft assessments.
Reports confirmed that the Commanders brought Harris in for a visit earlier this week. It was the final day teams were permitted to hold private meetings with prospects, so it's clear Peters and his front-office staff wanted to take a closer look at the pass-catcher before finalizing their plans.
There's a lot to like about Harris. He's got the size at 6-foot-2 to be a matchup nightmare. The player doesn't have the top-end speed typically associated with explosive NFL wide receivers, but he's a smooth route runner with enough agility to become a threat after the catch.
Harris's production over his final three years in college at Louisiana Tech and Ole Miss was top-notch. He gained 1,030 receiving yards and seven touchdowns from just eight games in 2024, averaging 17.2 yards per catch and 128.8 yards per game. Hip and groin injuries dented his momentum, but this sort of output won't go unnoticed by NFL scouts and league personnel.
Ole Miss wideouts always have the physical attributes to entice. What the Commanders must figure out is whether this Rebels' prospect is going to be D.K. Metcalf or Jonathan Mingo.
If the Commanders are suitably impressed during the visit and everything checks out medically, Harris is firmly in play. And there would be nobody happier than Daniels.
