Commanders Get Devastating Injury News For NFC Championship Game

Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders shocked the NFL world Saturday night, taking down the Detroit Lions 45-31 in the NFC Divisional round. The win advances them to their first NFC Championship game since the 1991-92 season.

Commanders Get Devastating Injury News For NFC Championship Game

That 45 number may be more of a stunner than the win itself given the fashion which Washington won the game. Unlike their Wild Card win, this game carried few dramatics with the visitors turning in a dominant effort on both sides of the ball.

It is a landmark season in a number of ways. They are now one win away from returning to the Super Bowl with a rookie quarterback under center and head coach Dan Quinn in his first year with the franchise.

But these two leaders along the remainder of the coaches and players in the Commanders locker room will navigate a little more adversity as they prepare for the NFC Championship.

The team announced Sunday that starting center Sam Cosmi suffered a torn ACL in Saturday's game and will miss the remainder of the postseason.

Given the timing of his injury, Cosmi will likely miss the team's offseason programming and at least several weeks of the 2025 regular season.

Cosmi has started all 17 regular season contests for Washington the last two seasons and a total of 49 games in his four-year career. Trent Scott spelled Cosmi against the Lions and presumes the same role as the team moves forward in the postseason.

Scott will get his first start against a familiar foe as the Commanders will visit the Philadelphia Eagles next Sunday in the conference championship.
