The Kansas City Chiefs will host the Las Vegas Raiders for a divisional matchup on Black Friday.
Although he may not play on Friday, the Chiefs added some much-needed help for their tackle position, signing Pro Bowl left tackle DJ Humphries earlier in the week.
Prior to signing with the Chiefs, Humphries had been released by the Arizona Cardinals in the offseason after suffering a torn ACL in 2023.
In a press conference, Humphries spoke about his journey after getting injured and being released, with many assuming that the 30-year-old was going to retire.
"I knew I was a tough guy already but having to go through those things and getting those, 'Man, you had such a great career. What a run!' those texts were really tiring for me," said Humphries. "It was like, (expletive), people are just assuming it's over because I'm hurt. That was probably the toughest part."
Humphries continued, discussing how joining the Chiefs was something on his (and his son's) mind before it even came to fruition.
"My son, Dash, immediately no batting [of] an eyelash, didn't care about me getting released," said Humphries. "'I really want you to go to Kansas City so you can play with Patrick Mahomes and probably win a Super Bowl.' I was like, 'Yeah, son, thank you!' He didn't have a care about what was going on. His automatic mind was like, 'You should go to the Chiefs.'"
The Chiefs have struggled to find some consistency at left tackle, so once Humphries is comfortable, there is a strong chance that he gets put into the lineup.
