Chiefs’ Andy Reid Reacts to Bill Belichick’s Surprising Move

The Kansas City Chiefs are just four weeks away from beginning their postseason pursuit for their third-straight Super Bowl.

Although the Chiefs have emerged as the NFL's modern dynasty, prior to their emergence, that title belonged to the New England Patriots, led by Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. Prior to his NFL departure, Belichick and Reid had formed a sort of rivalry with how often the Chiefs and Patriots faced off in the postseason.

Although many expected Belichick to return to the NFL after taking the 2024 season off from coaching, he instead made the shocking decision to become the head coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels.

Shortly after the decision was announced, Chiefs coach Andy Reid reacted to his former rival's big and surprising move.

"I think it's great," Reid said. "He put himself in a position where he doesn't owe anybody anything, it's whatever he wants to do at this point in his career, and I think he's looking forward to it. I had a chance to talk with him the other day, and he's in a great place. And that's a great school, on top of that, and he's hiring people that he's worked with and are very good, so I look forward to seeing him do it."

Now, with Belichick out of the NFL for the foreseeable future, Reid has the chance to surpass him in the league's all-time coaching wins list. Reid currently sits at fourth all-time (270), while Belichick is third (302).
