The Kansas City Chiefs are getting right at the perfect time. Let's start by saying, they finally didn't win a close game. This win was in the Chiefs' hands almost the entire game. They dominated pretty much from start to finish. And, make no mistake, they didn't beat up on a bad Pittsburgh Steelers team. The offense was cooking, against a great defense.
And, it helps when you have great players and weapons on offense finally healthy again. The Chiefs, just like every other team in the entire league, have been dealing with injuries for quite some time now, and pretty crucial ones, too. But, they are getting right at the perfect time. They have Hollywood Brown back, and D.J. Humphries should be playing healthy anytime now.
And, with Brown back, the offense is going. We saw that against the Steelers. Teams are really going to start having issues defending the speed that the Chiefs have with him and Xavier Worthy. And, Brown is just getting started.
He's on limited reps, considering he is getting back into the groove of things. But, he's constantly pushing the Chiefs to put him back out on the field.
"Yeah, Hollywood [Brown] has done a great job," head coach Andy Reid said after the game. "We're trying to ease him back in. It's like holding a horse back. Man, he wants to get back in every time we take him out, which is a positive thing. He's got a great attitude. But both those guys in there are a plus, for sure. I think they're all doing well. They're all playing good football right now. They all complement each other in certain ways, so I'd hate to just pick two of them out. They're doing a good job there."
The Chiefs have the weapons now that they have been lacking all year long. And, it helps that Travis Kelce has found a form as well. Brown was great in his limited snaps and played a huge part in the offense looking so well.
Because their offense was able to show up, much better than what we have seen over the course of the last handful of games, the Chiefs were able to secure the No. 1 overall seed in the playoffs. They now have a bye week during the wild card round, and could even rest their starters next week against the Denver Broncos.
