The Boston Celtics will be on the second night of a back-to-back when they face the Sacramento Kings on Monday night. Riding a five-game winning streak, the defending champions will look to build on Sunday’s 129-116 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers as they continue their push towards capturing consecutive NBA titles.
Despite being shorthanded in recent games, Boston remains strong in the Eastern Conference standings with a 51-19 record. Reigning Finals MVP Jaylen Brown last played on March 15 in a win against the Brooklyn Nets but exited early due to back spasms. He has since missed the last three games with right knee posterior impingement
However, Brown could return on Monday against the Kings. According to the Celtics' latest injury report, he has been upgraded to questionable for this matchup after missing the last three contests.
The update comes as a relief to Celtics fans, as the 2024 Finals MVP has missed the last three games. The 27-year-old is averaging 22.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 4.7 assists while shooting 45.9% from the field this season.
With just 11 games left in the regular season, he will need to play at least nine more to meet the 65-game requirement for NBA honors eligibility.
The Celtics (52-19) have already secured a playoff spot but still have a slim chance of clinching the top seed, trailing the Cleveland Cavaliers by five games. Brown’s return could be crucial as Boston aims to finish the season strong and gear up for another deep postseason run.
