The Boston Celtics and New York Knicks will soon hit the court for a primetime matchup in Madison Square Garden.
Before the game tips off at 8:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, the Celtics revealed unfortunate news regarding the injury status of starting guard Jrue Holiday.
The two-time NBA champion will miss his second straight game for the Celtics, as he is currently nursing a shoulder injury, according to Boston's official social media account.
He was also sidelined for the team's 127-120 loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday.
The former All-Star has averaged 11.0 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game so far this season. He's been a starter in all 44 games he's been active for the Celtics.
Despite the loss of arguably their best two-way player, Boston courts one of the best lineups in the league featuring stars Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Kristaps Porzingis.
They have six players who average double-digits in scoring, including the players listed as well as Derrick White and Payton Pritchard.
Boston currently sits second in the Eastern Conference standings with a 36-16 record, trailing the Cleveland Cavaliers by 5.5 games.
While Holiday will be sidelined for the team's primetime matchup against the Knicks, he'll have another opportunity to return to the lineup when Boston faces the Miami Heat on Monday night.
