With development camps underway and ‘Free Agent Frenzy’ getting a head start, rosters are beginning to fall into place for the upcoming 2025-26 season. Now, the Vancouver Canucks have revealed a first glimpse at how the year will be starting off.
On Monday night, the Canucks released their 2025-26 pre-season schedule. This year, Vancouver is set to play a total of six games, three at home and three on the road, against three Pacific division foes in the Seattle Kraken, Calgary Flames, and the Edmonton Oilers.
Vancouver’s pre-season will kick off in Seattle as they take on the Kraken at Climate Pledge Arena on September 21st. They will then host the Flames at Abbotsford Centre on the 24th. Two days later, they return to Rogers Arena for their second contest against the Kraken.
The team will then head to Alberta to play the back-to-back Stanley Cup finalist Oilers on September 28th at Rogers Place, and then the Flames once again on October 1st at the Scotiabank Saddledome. They finish things off back at home, facing the Oilers once again.
As always, the pre-season will serve as an opportunity for the Canucks to try out different line combinations and give playing time to some top prospects, potentially including some players participating in this week’s development camp. It will also serve as the first test of the new roster GM Patrik Allvin is building this summer, including any free agents he is able to entice out West this week and beyond.
Vancouver is set once again to play one game at Abbotsford Centre, home to their AHL-affiliate Abbotsford Canucks, as they’ve done the past couple years. This year will be extra special, as it follows Abbotsford’s Calder Cup-winning campaign that had the 7,000-seat venue rocking all spring. The atmosphere is sure to be electric in welcoming Vancouver back to the southern B.C. city, as they prepare to hang the championship banner this year.
While the pre-season has little importance in terms of results, Vancouver will still hope to hit the ground running in September, as they look to shake off a season of ups and downs and fight their way into the playoffs this year once again.
