Caleb Williams had to feel pretty good entering his first NFL season.
As the No. 1 overall pick by the Chicago Bears in the 2024 NFL Draft, the former Heisman Winning quarterback from USC had all of the confidence in the world, and rightly so. He could make all of the throws, extend plays with his feet, and hopefully turn around a historic franchise with historically bad quarterback play.
It came to light that Williams was initially feeling confident enough to text his team's punter and let him know that he wouldn't be needed very much this season.
Now, with two games under his belt, those past text messages have aged pretty poorly.

So far in 16 offensive possessions with Williams under center, the Bears have punted a total of 12 times. Williams has thrown for zero touchdowns and two interceptions and is 1-1 to start his career.
Of course, none of this means that Williams and the Bears won't eventually be able to find success, but the beginning of the season has been tough to watch. Chicago has an opportunity to turn things around with a game against the 0-2 Indianapolis Colts in Week 3.
