  • QB: The zone defense deployed by the Steelers seemed to slow down the decision-making for Jameis Winston, leaving him confused and with a poor first half completion percentage. His best plays came when he was able to escape from the pocket and do a good job finding the receiver popping free late. Unfortunately, Winston was victimized by two more interceptions. On the screen pass, the Steelers’ defensive lineman made a great play on it. If he wasn’t there, Winston’s risk might have paid off for a huge play, because the play looked open beyond that. However, when you double pump a screen because of congestion in front of the screen, sometimes you just have to eat it. On the second interception, the Browns needed to strike quick, and that actually was a very good-looking throw up the seam to Elijah Moore that was about one foot too far out in front of him.
  • RB: I still just hate the Browns’ strategy of running the ball, and everything as far as playcalling and execution is far too inconsistent for me to evaluate if the issue is just the playcalling, the blocking, the backs themselves, or a mix of everything. I’m more likely to not blame the backs, and lean on the other two areas. With that said, Jerome Ford (69.1) was the Browns’ highest-graded player on offense this week.
  • WR: After the huge day that Jerry Jeudy had last week, he followed that up with a decent effort against the Steelers, including a touchdown catch in the first quarter. With he and Winston connecting on 6-of-7 attempts, I sort of wish we saw him get a few more opportunities, even though I am very much in favor of Winston spreading the ball around. Michael Woods saw a significant amount of work this week, nearly playing the whole game. It only led to one reception, and his other one was waived off due to an offensive pass interference flag.
  • TE: I like the ball going toward David Njoku often, but the catch-to-target ratio was a bit out of sorts for the second straight game. Akins and Whiteheart barely saw any snaps in this game.
  • OL: Aside from the first play of the game, T.J. Watt was held in check once again, a credit to the job that Jack Conklin has done since returning to the field. I hated dumb plays like Germain Ifedi throwing a jab to draw a 15-yard penalty and prevent a scoring opportunity, one of many mistakes on offense and/or special teams that prevented Cleveland from climbing back into the game.
