Broncos essentially picked up an extra fifth-round pick with all of their trades

The Denver Broncos made a lot of moves this weekend. They ended up with just one of their original picks ending up theirs and that was their first round pick. The rest were moved via four different trades. They moved back twice in the second round, then moved up into the third, before moving back again in the sixth. They went in with seven picks and came out with seven picks, but they were able to net value from these trades.

Andrew Mason posted a great stat showing that when using Jimmy Johnson’s draft-point value chart, the Broncos picked up the equivalent of a fifth-round pick through all these trades.

The Broncos also did something significant, which was they did not move any of their 2026 draft capital. For the first time in the long time, it feels like Denver will have a full slate of picks heading into a draft — though that could certainly change before then.

As it stands, they went into the draft with three sixth round picks and only three picks in the first two days. In the end, they picked only once in the sixth round and four times in the first two days. Not a bad trade off. I think I like the Paton and Payton combo in the Broncos’ front office.
