The Green Bay Packers doubled down on upgrading quarterback Jordan Love’s receiving corps in hopes the offense takes the next step in 2025, and elevates the franchise’s postseason ceiling.
Head coach Matt LaFLeur and the Packers are hoping first-round rookie Matthew Golden’s 4.29 speed throws open the playbook and ignites the vertical passing game, and Savion Williams climbs the depth chart as a possession receiver and after-the-catch threat.
However, even after adding young depth, with upside, at receiver, there could be a potential pitfall awaiting the offense this season.
Could Packers’ offensive Line be the Biggest Worry?

Much of the optimism around the Packers is the development of a young defense taking the next step, and Love being able to guide an offense to being even more explosive in 2025, after leading the league with 38 explosive plays in 2024.
However, after guard Aaron Banks arrives as the only marquee addition along the offensive line, Bleacher Report analyst Alex Ballentine suggests that the Packers’ worst-case-scenario this season is Love being forced to do too much behind a leaky offensive line.
“Elgton Jenkins is slated to move to center, but he’s holding in at Packers minicamp,” Ballentine writes, after pointing out that Banks ranked 77th in the NFL in pass-blocking last season. “Jordan Morgan could be starting at left tackle or right guard, but he’ll have to show he can improve after a tumultuous rookie season.
“Love is already willing to take too many risks as a quarterback. If the Packers offensive line doesn’t jell and Golden doesn’t add much to the passing game, we could see more of the ugly side of the signal-caller’s game.”
Much of the optimism surrounding the Packers’ offensive line making strides hinges on Morgan living up to his billing as a first-round pick, and Banks upgrading along the interior.
However, chemistry and cohesion takes time to develop along an offensive line. If Love is forced to lean further into his gunslinger mentality because of facing a barrage of pressure, it could make making progress a daunting task for the Packers, in a loaded NFC North.
