Bills NFL Draft Plan Theme Being Made Perfectly Clear

The Buffalo Bills will enter the NFL Draft with head coach Sean McDermott and general manager Brandon Beane well aware of the roster weaknesses.

Bills NFL Draft Plan Theme Being Made Perfectly Clear

For most, the defensive side is where the Bills "should" be targeting in the opening rounds, but over the past couple of weeks, we have seen several mock drafts go in a different direction.

With a host of top-class receivers, the Bills, who are in need of another weapon for Josh Allen, have been tipped to take a receiver in several mocks, with Emeka Egbuka and Matthew Golden the two players linked the most.

And it is here where a perfectly clear theme is developing - Buffalo might take a receiver over any other position.

As we mentioned, several mock drafts have the Bills taking a receiver, and we now have another one, this time from Sports Illustrated's Gilberto Manzano, who has Egbuka coming to the AFC East champs.

"The Bills didn’t get much from Amari Cooper last year, and Keon Coleman had somewhat of a quiet rookie season," Manzano writes. "Buffalo can’t wait around for players to develop while Josh Allen is in his prime. Egbuka has received comparisons to Jaxon Smith-Njigba. This selection makes a dangerous offense even better."

We are at the time of year when most have a rough idea of which way a franchise is leaning based on conversations with sources and those inside the building, so some of these mock drafts are purely speculative, while others aren't.

With so many now having the Bills taking a receiver, it does feel like all avenues lead to one position. Of course, there is no way to truly determine how the draft will fall because, as we know, crazy things can happen.

But for the Bills, there appears to be a theme developing and the closer we get to the draft, the momentum a receiver coming to Buffalo builds.
