Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills are coming off their bye week with a 9-2 record and a four game lead in the division. Shockingly, there's already a scenario where they can clinch the division on the Sunday after Thanksgiving.
In order to do so, the Packers will need to beat the Dolphins on Thursday in Green Bay. If they do so, then Sunday night against the 49ers becomes a hat and t-shirt game if they beat the 49ers.
Getting past San Francisco poses plenty of challenges, and Allen had plenty to say about the challenges that the defense brings to the field.
"Well, Fred Warner's maybe the best linebacker in football," Allen said. "He flies around. I think their D-line, obviously, with Bosa and Floyd — obviously, Floyd was here last year — two guys that can absolutely go and get after the quarterback, their [defensive backs] play very well within their system, and they're getting healthier. I know they've been a little banged up over the last few weeks, but I feel like they're getting healthier. And no, you can't control who plays and when they get back, but it's a really, really good defense and they fly around, and they force a lot of turnovers."
For my money, Warner is absolutely the best linebacker in the league. His instincts, his ability to cover against the pass and fly downhill to stop the run, along with his nose for always being around the football, makes him a nightmare to play against. He currently has 84 tackles, leads all linebackers in passes defensed with six, and leads all linebackers with two interceptions, one of which going for a 45-yard pick six. Oh, and he's doing all of this with a fractured ankle that he sustained early in the season.
Bosa missed last week's game with an oblique/hip injury, and was listed as a DNP in Wednesday's practice, but if he's able to play, he's one of the best pass rushers in the league.
Allen has the utmost respect for this week's opponent, and he's right to do so. Their record doesn't reflect the ability of this squad, which is right up there with the most talented rosters in the NFL. If they're healthy, or least healthier than they've been, they're an opponent not to be taken lightly.
