Buffalo Bills running back James Cook is present at training camp and is still awaiting his new contract as the saga continues to drag on.
With the thought that Cook likely won't get a deal done this offseason due to the salary cap situation Buffalo finds itself in, with a little under $1 million available per Over The Cap, the fact that the running back, who is in the final year of his rookie deal, is on the practice field speaks volumes.
When going through contract situations like this, times can be a little difficult, but as Cook explains, he's had the backing from the entire locker room.
"Oh, very supportive," Cook said. "I mean, I don't really talk to them about things like that, but I just kind of not want to bring that up to the team and be like a distraction. So, I just kind of just stay to myself and just let my agents and those guys work things out."
With Cook now focused on being the best teammate and player he can be, having him on the field for training camp is a huge advantage as Buffalo looks to get all its ducks in a row ahead of what is a defining season for both the franchise and quarterback Josh Allen.
The brotherhood of a locker room is something special, and it is that bond that will carry this team forward. Cook's contract had the potential to be a distraction for the franchise, but he has put all of that to one side and is focused on football.
With the support of his teammates driving him forward in 2025.
