Patriots' Stefon Diggs Makes Bold Statement Ahead of 2025 NFL Season

The New England Patriots took a risk this offseason to bring in receiver Stefon Diggs to be quarterback Drake Maye's No. 1 option in 2025. Coming off a torn ACL, the Patriots signed Diggs to a three-year, $63.5 million contract, with $25 million guaranteed.

Diggs has had his fair share of drama throughout his NFL career, but for the most part, his production on the field has been a constant.

New England's new receiver played just eight games last year before he tore his ACL, accumulating just shy of 500 receiving yards with the Houston Texans. But, prior to 2024, Diggs had six straight 1,000-yard seasons between his time with the Minnesota Vikings and Buffalo Bills.

The star receiver had made four straight Pro Bowls before 2024 and was selected as an All-Pro in 2020.

Earlier this offseason, Diggs participated in New England’s minicamp, and all signs pointed to positive progress in his recovery from his ACL tear.

Diggs recently posted a YouTube video about his mental reset and a trip to Europe, as he explored the land and got some training in.

The veteran receiver is entering a new phase of his football career, coming off a major injury and joining a new team for 2025. Diggs is ready to work and take advantage of the new opportunity he's been provided with.

“I was a fifth-round draft pick. I beat everybody out of a job. That’s how I got my start. I got my opportunity, and I took advantage, and I got better each and every week," Diggs said (h/t Patriotswire). "Now, I'm going into the new situation. I love that God gave me the opportunity again. There is no second chances with this [expletive]. You gotta take advantage of the right now.”

The Patriots are coming off of back-to-back four-win seasons, and have a new coaching staff entering 2025. There's a lot of change, but also a lot of expectations in 2025 for New England.

Maye had a strong rookie season, and having a reliable No. 1 option at receiver would go a long way in his developmental second year. Diggs seems confident that he can be the guy to help Maye and the Patriots' offense reach new heights this season.
