Opening up.
Bachelor Nation fans first met Becca Tilley on Season 19 of “The Bachelor,” and she returned to our screens for Season 20.
Since her time on the shows, Becca has found love off-screen with her girlfriend Hayley Kiyoko and has kept fans updated with her life on social media.
This week, Becca opened up and revealed seven things that she has said “yes” to in her life that scared her, and why she’s glad she made those decisions.
She wrote, “Just a reminder that the simple choice of saying “yes” — even when it feels like the scariest thing in the world — can change your whole life.”
The Bachelor Nation star shared that the first thing she decided to do even though she was nervous was to leave college after a year and move to San Diego with her sister and brother-in-law.
“I was young enough that the fear wouldn’t stop me,” she wrote, “but I remember moments of fear leaving everyone and everything I grew up with to go to a place where the only people I knew were the 2 people I came with. Forever grateful they invited me to move with them and forever grateful I said yes.”
The second thing she revealed was staying in San Diego when her sister and brother-in-law moved away.
She wrote, “I didn’t know where I would live, how I would financially be able to do it, I just knew I wanted to stay. I had some amazingly generous people who helped me and gave me a chance to do it and I’ll forever be grateful to them.”
The third and fourth thing Becca said “yes” to was going on “The Bachelor,” not once but twice.
“I was so overwhelmed when I got the call. My instinct was immediately no,” she revealed. “It was scary, I had never been in a relationship, and I’d be competing with other women for a man’s attention. Felt too far out of my comfort zone…It felt crazy…so I did it twice.”
Becca then shared that she made a giant leap after her time on “The Bachelor” and made another move completely outside of her comfort zone.
She shared, “I quit my job that was consistent and steady and something I loved to move up to LA. I wasn’t sure how long the post ‘Bachelor’ opportunities would last, but I thought ‘if not now…when would I have the chance to do this?’ And I’m so glad I did.”
Becca continued to open up and shared that the last two things she said “yes” to that made her nervous was falling in love with her girlfriend Hayley and coming out publicly.
She admitted, “This one is different because it didn’t really feel like a choice, but ultimately was a choice to allow our relationship to grow and see where things went. I’m so glad I chose her and us over the fear.”
Becca went on to say, “For 4 years I convinced myself I loved that our relationship was private and to an extent, it was special that it was ours…but the truth is that I was so scared. I was scared of what people would think and how I would be perceived and loved. Making the decision to ignore those thoughts freed me in so many areas of my life…It’s incredible how one decision has a snowball effect like that.”
Becca finished her post with a note of encouragement to her followers.
She wrote, “There’s nothing wrong with staying where you are if you feel content and at peace but if you’re craving more and it’s simply fear holding you back — fear of failure, rejection, embarrassment, what ifs, the negative voice in your head — practice doing it scared. It can (and probably will) change your life.”
Love that!
We are so proud of Becca for having the bravery to go outside of her comfort zone and say “yes” to things that scared her.
We love seeing her so happy and can’t wait to see what other amazing things she does!
