The universe has done enough for the Chicago Bears already. While Chicago's spent 9,999 out of the last 10,000 years doing absolutely nothing to try and modernize their franchise and figure out "how to throw the football," the universe has handed them gift after gift.
Back-to-back first overall picks? Multiple shots at generational franchise QBs? The undying support of a fanbase that has never been treated to enjoyable football? The Bears don't deserve nice things
So, of course, the universe is back this week giving the Bears more gifts. The rich get richer, etc. In a new, pretty wild list of possible NFL trades from Bleacher Report this week, a haunting idea was put into the minds of everyone in the NFC North: Jalen Ramsey in Chicago's secondary.
It would end Green Bay Packers' fans hopes of landing Ramsey to replace Jaire Alexander. Take a gander, if your blood pressure can handle it.
Brent Sobleski of B/R proposes a three-team trade between the Bears, Miami Dolphins, and Cleveland Browns that sees Ramsey join Chicago. The Bears give away tackle Braxton Jones as part of the hypothetical deal.
"Chicago can finally get serious about being competitive, and the acquisition of Ramsey would further cement the squad's up-and-coming status," writes Sobleski. "The offensive line is one of the position groups Chicago attacked this offseason, including the second-round selection of Boston College's Ozzy Trapilo. The rookie has an opportunity to claim the left tackle spot and finalize the Bears' new-look front five. As long as Poles and Co. are comfortable with a rookie on Caleb Williams' blind side, Braxton Jones can be moved."
Now that I'm thinking about it, maybe I do want the Bears to trade their starting left tackle for a *very* expensive 30-year-old cornerback who's probably going to be playing safety before too long.
The Bears' offensive line is notoriously deep and talented, so sure, go ahead and just figure out the left tackle situation this August.
Jalen Ramsey: just go to the Rams, man. There's nothing for you in Chicago. Trust me.
