Bears predicted to pull off blockbuster draft night trade with Colts by NFL insider

It's the night before Christmas in the NFL, and every fan base is wondering what sorts of gifts their team's general managers will bring to the roster in 2025.

Chicago Bears fans are excited about their team's current direction, though there always has to be some trepidation for this franchise as well. They've got their head coach and they've got their starting quarterback, so they're trying to build as dominant a roster as they can.

What should Vikings do with No. 24 pick in 2025 NFL Draft 'GMFB'

Currently, the Bears hold the number 10 pick in the first round. But if they have their hearts set on a specific prospect, one could envision them moving up, and conversely, they could trade back if they think stockpiling more picks will give them the best haul.

One NFL insider sees them doing the latter.

On Wednesday, ESPN's Peter Schrager predicted the Bears would trade the 10th pick to the Indianapolis Colts for the 14th and 80th picks. Then, with their new first-rounder, Schrager predicted Chicago would select Texas offensive tackle Kelvin Banks Jr.

"Banks could end up going before (Armand) Membou as the top tackle in this class," Schrager wrote. "He has the better tape and is more consistent. If the Bears trade back and still get him, that's a major win."

Meanwhile, Schrager's guess was that Indianapolis would covet the 10th pick in order to select Michigan tight end Colston Loveland, who many see as a fit for teams ahead of Indy in the order, like the Los Angeles Chargers.

Banks, a 6-foot-5, 315-pounder, could be a stabilizing force in front of QB Caleb Williams for many years to come. And nabbing him while also landing an extra third-rounder seems like a solid value proposition for Chicago.
