Bears Intriguing RB Could Be Traded Before Deadline

Chicago Bears running back Khalil Herbert

The Chicago Bears could be a very intriguing team to keep an eye on ahead of the upcoming 2024 NFL trade deadline on November 5th. They could be a team that looks to both buy talent and sell off some of their own.

If they opt to move a player or two from their current roster, there is a player that could make sense.

Khalil Herbert, the team’s 26-year-old running back, could be a player of interest to teams around the league. For the Bears, he’s expendable as they have D’Andre Swift and Roschon Johnson ahead of him on the depth chart.

According to a report from NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Bears could get some calls about Herbert ahead of the trade deadline.

“With plenty of injuries at the position across the league, Herbert could be the subject of calls. He has flashed in previous seasons.”

Herbert has fallen out of the lineup so far this season. He has played very sparingly through the first six games of the year.

So far, he has carried the football just eight times for 16 yards and a touchdown. He has also caught two passes for four yards.

Last season, in a much bigger role for the Chicago Bears, Herbert racked up 611 yards and two touchdowns on the ground and 20 catches for 134 yards and a score.

The most intriguing part about Herbert’s game is that he can bring dual-threat ability to the field. Quite a few teams around the NFL could use a better third down running back who can do both. That is exactly what he can offer.

All of that being said, it will be interesting to see what the Chicago Bears end up doing at the deadline. At this point in time, they certainly appear to be a team that could make a move or two.
