Former USC Coach Pete Carroll Makes Splash With First Pick With Raiders

Former USC Trojans head coach Pete Carroll, now at the helm of the Las Vegas Raiders, made a statement with his first draft pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

On Thursday night, the Raiders selected Boise State Broncos running back Ashton Jeanty with the 6th overall pick, a player widely regarded as a generational talent, as announced in a thrilling NFL tweet on X.

Jeanty, a dynamic 5-foot-9, 211-pound bellcow back, brings an explosive skill set to the Silver and Black.

The Former Broncos standout rushed for a mind-boggling 2,601 yards along with 29 touchdowns in his junior season with the Broncos.

Known for his elusiveness, speed, and tackle-breaking ability, he’s already drawing comparisons to NFL legends like LaDainian Tomlinson and Marshall Faulk.

His college career at Boise State showcased his versatility—he’s a reliable receiver and excels in pass protection, making him a three-down threat.

Carroll, renowned for his tenure at USC where he posted a 96-19 record and produced multiple NFL stars, clearly sees Jeanty as the cornerstone of a revitalized Raiders offense.

The pick comes after the Raiders’ decision to let Josh Jacobs walk in free agency, sparking controversy as many argued that the team could have addressed other needs like the offensive line.

Nonetheless, Jeanty now joins Geno Smith, Brock Bowers, and Jakobi Meyers to form a core of strong playmakers for a Raiders squad desperately looking to get back on track.

With Carroll’s proven track record and Jeanty’s star potential, the Raiders may have just found the spark to bring Raiders football back to prominence.
