Are the Raiders asking too much for star wideout Davante Adams?

The Las Vegas Raiders trading Davante Adams has felt like a foregone conclusion over the past couple of weeks. But the Adams trade saga may have an anticlimactic ending.

Adams could end up staying with the Las Vegas Raiders instead of being traded, according to ESPN reporter Adam Schefter. The situation involving Adams was also described as “fluid and unpredictable.”

While the Raiders have received inquiries about Adams from several teams, the interest reportedly isn’t at the level that some may expect for a three-time All-Pro.

The lack of interest in Adams is said to be due to the Raiders’ lofty asking price. Las Vegas has also insisted that the team is unwilling to pay any of Adams’ remaining salary in a trade.

Schefter also noted that a recent personnel decision may have helped soothe Adams’ relationship with his current team.

Ahead of the team’s Week 6 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Raiders decided to bench starting quarterback Gardner Minshew in favor of Aidan O’Connell. Adams is considered a “big supporter” of O’Connell and that aspect “should not be discounted or overlooked” when considering Adams’ desire to leave, per the report.

Adams has been tied to several potential trades over the last few weeks, including what was considered an “inevitable reunion" with his former QB Aaron Rodgers. The 31-year-old’s social media activity has also heightened the speculation even further.

But with the Raiders playing hardball, Adams could very well end up staying put.
