Aaron Rodgers Under Fire Over Postgame Comments About Taking Blame

Aaron Rodgers didn't do himself any favors with his latest remarks about taking blame and accountability with the New York Jets.

Amid the criticisms coming his way due to the Jets' poor season, Rodgers appeared to deflect some of the blame as he pointed out that not everything is his fault.

Aaron Rodgers Under Fire Over Postgame Comments About Taking Blame

The four-time NFL MVP made the comments following their Sunday loss to the Seattle Seahawks, during which the Jets blew a 21-7 lead in the first half and lost 26-21.

When asked about his rather pedestrian numbers despite being healthy this season, Rodgers responded by reminding everyone that he's not the only one to blame for their current struggles.

"There's 11 guys on the field," Rodgers told reporters, per Jets Videos.

"Sometimes it's my fault, and then sometimes the details aren't there in some other spots too."

Sure enough, his reply didn't sit well with Jets fans, with many noting that Rodgers showed a lack of leadership with his remarks.

"When you're supposed to be the leader and can't shoulder the blame yourself...you're not the leader anymore. Time to hang it up," a commenter wrote.

A stern critic added, "This man has zero clue on how to be a leader and refuses to ever take any accountability. He should have been benched weeks ago."

"His status quo per usual: narcissism and cowardice," a follower said.

Another social media user noted, "Not a good answer."

"He is an unbelievably bad leader. If I were on his O line, I’d let a few sacks get through," a poster further stated.

A sixth commenter sarcastically shared, "What a great leader and teammate. Jets should give him an extension."

In 12 games he has played so far this 2024 season, Aaron Rodgers has recorded 2,627 passing yards and 19 touchdowns against just one interception. However, his production hasn't resulted in many wins, with the Jets tallying a 3-9 record.

Rodgers' future with the Jets after the campaign remains in question. But sure enough, his latest comments only hurt his reputation among the New York faithful.
