After being traded from the New York Jets to the Pittsburgh Steelers, wide receiver Mike Williams scored the game-winning touchdown for the Steelers in their win over the 28-27 win over the Washington Commanders. Following the game, Williams took to Instagram to celebrate and also take a shot at his former QB, Aaron Rodgers.
To make a long story short, while Williams was on the Jets, Aaron Rodgers publicly scapegoated him after a loss, which was then followed by the team replacing him with Davante Adams. Rodgers was critical of Williams for not running a proper “Red Line” route, which is the exact hashtag that Williams used in his post-Commanders win IG post.
When asked about the subtle shot from Williams, Rodgers told reporters that he hadn’t seen it and added that he’s “happy for” Williams.
NFL veteran and former Jets QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, however, wasn’t buying what Rodgers was selling, as he called out the future Hall of Famer on social media for likely lying, referencing the fake that Rodgers is online enough to get duped by a fake Jared Goff stat (which he then shared on The Pat McAfee Show).
“Amazing that Aaron saw the Goff fake 7-0 INT stat but didn’t see the Mike Williams TD tweet. His filters on this app must be amazing… (I can write this knowing he won’t ever see it),” Fitzpatrick tweeted.
This isn’t the first time that Fitzpatrick has been critical of Rodgers’ treatment of Mike Williams, as he also called the quarterback out back in October for throwing Williams under the boss after the Jets lost to the Bills, and even confronted him about it during a Thursday Night Football postgame show on Halloween night.
