5 Times Grant Ellis Showed His True Colors On The Bachelor (I'm Convinced He Isn't On The Show For Love)

For the most part, Grant Ellis' season as The Bachelor has been panned by viewers for being a bit underwhelming, and I think it's because Grant isn't on the show for the right reasons. Grant is less charismatic than other leads, and he gotten less decisive and sure of himself as the season has progressed. With the season finale airing soon, Grant's down to his finals: 28-year-old client services associate Juliana Pasquarosa and 31-year-old model and venture capitalist Litia Garr. Whoever he chooses, I think we need to look back at some clues that Grant's intentions might not be genuine.

5 Times Grant Ellis Showed His True Colors On The Bachelor (I'm Convinced He Isn't On The Show For Love)

There hasn't been a firm front-runner to emerge on The Bachelor season 29, and I think it's because Grant isn't really into any of the women competing. He claims he has developed strong connections, and Grant even told Litia he loved her during their Fantasy Suite date, but I think he regretted it after he said it. I'm not convinced Grant loves anyone enough to really commit, and I believe that he came on the show to find fame, not love.

From drama with the women, to leading some of them on, to making sure his image is protected, Grant's shown signs that he cares more about the notoriety of appearing on the show than he does about finding his wife. Grant let Carolina Sofia's antics dominate the first half of the season, only to send her home before hometown dates, which made me wonder what the point of all that was. It was a waste of time, but Grant doesn't seem concerned. He's on the show to become a public figure, and that couldn't be more clear.

5Grant Wants To Protect His Image

Grant Says He's 'Not A Player'

When Carolina confronted Grant about Rose Sombke, saying he said that when he was dancing with Carolina, he was actually thinking of Rose, Grant flipped out. His demeanor changed, and he became defensive, saying, "I'm not here to play games or be a player." I think Grant took it so personally because he considered it to be bad for his image.

"It's like I'm trying to spit game, I'm not here to do that. That's not me. I'm here to find a wife, and I would try to approach things with honesty and try to be respectful."

Grant flat out accused Rose of lying about what he said, even though he did actually say to Rose, "I'm very interested in you. Like even today, right, you know, the whole dancing thing on stage and everything, I was thinking about you. I don't want you to feel like I wasn't paying attention, because I am." Rose may have misconstrued Grant's sentiments, and she probably should not have turned around and told Carolina what Grant said, because it did create drama. However, Rose didn't lie, and Grant said those words, so it's up to him to clear it up, not accuse Rose of making it up.

4Grant Is Trying To Push His Music Career

Grant Dropped A Single Just Before The Premiere

Another major red flag in Grant's season is his determination to make his singing career a thing. Just before the season premiered, Grant dropped a single, "Party Girl," on Spotify. Grant's background as a former pro basketball player and finance guy don't speak to his musical aspirations. However, Grant made it clear on the show that he's gunning for a music career.

Grant forced Alexe Godin to sit and listen to him play keyboard during one of their dates, and he rapped a song before a group challenge date with the singer, Mario. Grant isn't shy about taking the mic, and it's making me think that might be the reason he's on the show. He already admitted that his mom was the one who originally signed him up for Jenn Tran's season of The Bachelorette, which got him the Bachelor gig. He might have sensed that going on reality TV would be a good launching pad for a career in entertainment.

3Grant Played Games With Rose And Carolina

Grant Couldn't Focus

From the moment she came on the screen, 29-year-old public relations producer Carolina Sofia was on a mission to make Grant hers. She was fiery and dramatic, and she managed to make everything about her. Grant, as the lead, should have more control over the situation, and he shouldn't have allowed Carolina's theatrics to dominate the show.

Carolina and Grant had chemistry. In my opinion, they had the most chemistry between Grant and any of the women competing. Carolina had her eye on the prize, and nothing was going to get in her way. From Carolina's perspective, this is fair, since she's on the show to win. However, from Grant's perspective, this created a lot of unnecessary chaos and distraction. His doting on Carolina and her emotions made the other women insecure, and they pulled away from Grant.

When the Rose situation erupted, Grant didn't act honorably. Instead, he was defiant and wanted to prove he wasn't a "player," which is hard considering he's on a show dating 25 women. To an extent, playing the game is part of the show. Carolina succeeded in standing out, but she failed because Grant sent her home. After all that, it felt like a waste of time for Grant, Carolina and all the other women.

2Grant Unfairly Eliminated Dina

Grant Led Dina On

Dina Lupancu didn't get a fair shake on this season of The Bachelor. She managed to stay in the running by laying somewhat low, but she spoke up when she had to, even getting into it with Carolina before she was sent home. Dina originally defended Carolina, but felt Carolina didn't return the favor, which caused more drama.

Dina was open about how her family didn't necessarily approve of her doing the show. They supported her, but chose not to be involved with filming. When it was time for Dina's hometown date, and she introduced Grant to her friends, not her family, I felt like Grant judged her for it. Despite Zoe also not having family that Grant could meet on her hometown date, for some reason, Grant had an issue when Dina's family chose not to appear.

Grant sent Dina home after hometown dates, and it was clear that her family not participating was a big factor for him. It didn't feel fair, since Zoe also didn't have her family's support, but Dina was eliminated because of it. Dina handled her elimination with class, saying that if he wasn't 100% sure about her, she didn't want him.

1Grant Spent The Night In The Fantasy Suite With Zoe Before Sending Her Home

Grant's Move Was Cold

Oh, the Fantasy Suite of it all. Bachelor fans know that the Fantasy Suite date, where the lead gets to spend the night with the contestants prior to elimination, is a major factor in the season. And while this is a Disney-owned show, and we don't get to see much of what goes on in the Fantasy Suite, viewers can use their imaginations. Unless it's explicitly spelled out that there wasn't anything physical, like in Litia's case, it's safe to assume that Grant was intimate with Zoe and Juliana during their overnights.

After Grant and Zoe's Fantasy Suite date, Grant cruelly sent Zoe home. I can't imagine how Zoe felt, but I'd imagine she felt somewhat used, since Grant had to have an idea of who he was going to choose, and one night in the Fantasy Suite probably wouldn't change that. Again, the Fantasy Suite is built into the show, so the women know what they're signing up for. Still, being sent home the next day can't have been a good feeling for Zoe.

Find out who Grant gives his final rose to on the season finale of The Bachelor on Monday, March 24, at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
