The Buffalo Bills are coming off perhaps one of their most consistent seasons under Sean McDermott and Josh Allen.
While the ultimate glory wasn't achieved, Allen won the NFL MVP award along with getting the Bills to within three points of a Super Bowl appearance in the AFC title game. So that suggests the Bills are close.
And in truth, as long as No. 17 is upright, the Bills, like only a select few, will always be in their Super Bowl window, giving them a big advantage over many teams.
However, what if Allen misses time due to injury? Is the Bills' quarterback room strong enough to withstand that? For Bleacher Report's Moe Moton, in assessing all 32 teams' quarterback position on a panic meter from one to 10, the Bills' is reading no panic at all, with a one.
"He's coming off an MVP season, in which he threw for 3,731 yards, 28 touchdowns and six interceptions and rushed for 531 yards and 12 touchdowns," Moton writes. "If Allen does miss time, Trubisky can be serviceable in a short stretch. White also has starting experience. In terms of playmaking ability, Allen is in the same quarterback tier as multi-time MVPs Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson. With him, the Bills have a wide-open Super Bowl window."
Can we move that "panic level' to a "zero''?
Allen is as durable as they come in the NFL, but if he does get dinged up, then Mitch Trubisky, who has been a starter in his eight years (31-26 record), the Bills appear to be set rather nicely at the position. Even Mike White, as the third-string option, has starting experience.
So yes, the Bills would lose a lot with Allen not in the lineup, but if it is only for a select few games, there is confidence that Trubisky could keep Buffalo afloat until Superman returns.
Few teams have a generational quarterback like Allen, and even fewer have a stronger room than the Bills do behind him, so it is no wonder there is no panic over the quarterback position in Buffalo.
Things are set rather nicely for the Bills.
