Young & Restless’ Devon Crossover Was Such a Success, Beyond the Gates Is Beckoning, ‘Come Back and Stay!’

To put it mildly, Young & Restless’ first crossover with Beyond the Gates was a rousing success. The story, in which Devon pitched the idea of signing Anita to his record label, made sense, right down to their off-screen history. (They were introduced by Neil at Indigo years ago.) Bryton James all but sparkled opposite Beyond the Gates’ regulars. And, in particular, he played beautifully with Karla Mosley, who subbed on Young & Restless as Amanda before being cast as Beyond the Gates’ mercurial Dani. So are you thinking what we are?

Devon Needs to Cross Over to Beyond the Gates and Stay

Devon needs to return to Fairmont Crest and stay. With Melissa Ordway only recurring as Abby, it stands to reason that the couple’s marriage is on borrowed time. The characters could decide that, yes, they had to get together… just to see what it was like. But after all these years, Dominic’s parents have realized that they’re just better off as friends.

That settled, Devon could relocate to Fairmont Crest and recruit Anita to produce Sharon and Tracy’s album with him. He and Dani could cross paths anew, compare notes on their recent breakups and decide to try going on a date, take it slowly, see if anything is…

Oops. There they’d go, hopping into bed, too overcome by their chemistry to resist.

What Would Devon Be Leaving Behind?

You might argue that Devon’s roots run too deeply in Genoa City for him ever to leave. But if he stayed there, what would await him? With his marriage a non-story, he’d be left to endlessly discuss who’s taking over what company on any given week. His Emmy-winning portrayer deserves better, more exciting material, and so do fans.
