The Buffalo Bills are entering the 2025 season with one goal in mind: winning the Super Bowl.

Young Bills special teamer named the biggest surprise player from OTAs and has positioned himself to compete for a larger role

Their upcoming training camp will be used by most of their key players to get into regular-season shape, as they hope to hit the ground running come Week 1. For some, they will have their eyes on earning a starting job or a larger role. That includes LB Joe Andreessen, who was named the team's biggest surprise player from OTAs by ESPN.

Joe Andreessen could be in line for a bigger role in his second season

"LB Joe Andreessen

Largely a special teams player as a rookie last year, Andreessen was signed after trying out at rookie minicamp, and he then earned a roster spot. He made a significant statement going into his second season with his performance during the mandatory minicamp.

Availability is something the Bills emphasize, and Andreessen saw increased time during team drills, in part due to Baylon Spector's injury. He made multiple notable plays, including picking off Josh Allen. And he put himself in a good position to compete for the backup middle linebacker job." -- Alaina Getzenberg

ESPN's Biggest surprise player for all 32 teams from the offseason

LB Joe Andreessen has a pretty solid rookie year, all things considered. After going undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft, he appeared in 13 games and logged one defensive start. His main role came on special teams, where he logged 246 snaps, which was 71% of the team's total. While he only appeared in 14% of the team's defensive snaps, logging 114  snaps.

The hope is that he is able to take what he learned during his rookie season and take the next step in his career this year. The team's starting LB spots seem pretty locked up for the 2024 season, but the door is wide open for Andreessen to put together a strong training camp and win a key reserve role on the team's defense.
