Y&R fans assumed that Summer and Kyle (Michael Mealor) would get back together by now. But he’s been bitten by the love bug. Kyle and Claire’s (Hayley Erin) relationship continues to heat up, leaving Summer out in the cold. Lanier joined the soap on May 17, 2022. In her recent X post, she announced her shocking exit.
Lanier’s time on Y&R is about to come to an end. In her post, Lanier teased that her final air date is this week. “Hey guys! This Friday, May 2nd, will be my last episode on Y&R! I’ve loved the journey and learned so much, but it’s time to grow in a different direction… very grateful for all of the Y&R fans who have supported me <3.”

Y&R hasn’t confirmed or commented on Lanier’s exit. The soap has no plans to recast Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Phyllis’ (Michelle Stafford) daughter. Hunter King has played the role since 2012. She swapped out soaps for feel-good movies on the Hallmark Channel. However, TV Line recently reported that CBS isn’t moving forward with The Neighborhood spinoff King was a part of; however, the backdoor pilot will still air as planned on May 5.

What’s Next For Summer?
Summer hasn’t mentioned leaving Genoa City. She was determined to make her co-parenting relationship with Kyle work. Summer made it obvious that she was not a fan of Claire. She also felt uncomfortable having Harrison (Redding Munsell) around Audra (Zuleyka Silver).
Unfortunately, she couldn’t catch Kyle’s eye, as she had planned. So, she will probably return to Italy, where she had a successful career. This also makes us wonder what will happen to Phyllis.
