Will the Broncos coaching staff change drastically this offseason?

The biggest coaching loss to watch for at this point would be Vance Joseph as he’s already being interviewed by the Raiders and the Jets. The question becomes is this the right timing for Joseph?

Broncos Mailbag: Will Sean Payton make staff changes this offseason?

I think most of Broncos Country would agree he did a tremendous job last season. Losing him would cause a rather large void for the Broncos. Also, this is largely a question of when, not if he will get another head coaching job. He’s a very capable defensive coordinator. Sean Payton praises him as a coach and that means quite a great deal.

But he’s not the only coach getting a look. David Shaw has interviewed for both the Saints and the Bears. He works as a Senior Personnel Executive for the Broncos currently and has a background as a head coach from his time at Stanford.

I expect some churn from the Broncos coaching staff at a fairly regular pace, in all honesty. Sean Payton is an extension of Bill Parcells who had the same issues as his coaching tree grew year after year.

The good news for Broncos Country is that Sean Payton is the kind of head coach that everyone wants to work with. He’s a superb leader, mentor, and teacher. Pair that with the sound financial footing of the Broncos’ ownership and we won’t have problems hiring talented coaches when the churn does occur.

Also, with both Vance Joseph and David Shaw, if teams hire them, we get compensatory picks (two third-round picks as I recall).
