Wild Trade Idea Sends Tua Tagovailoa to NFC South Team So Dolphins Can Get Veteran Quarterback

The start of the new league year was a big success for many teams, but not all.

The Miami Dolphins are a team that lost some key offensive linemen this offseason and have stars like wide receiver Tyreek Hill and cornerback Jalen Ramsey possibly on the way out. The Dolphins need to make a big move to potentially save their season before it begins.

If the Dolphins want to find a fresh voice in the locker room and move on from the expensive contract with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, they could trade him to a quarterback-needy team like the New Orleans Saints.

The Dolphins, meanwhile, take a wild shot at adding former Super Bowl MVP and 41-year-old veteran Aaron Rodgers. He might be waiting for a team to take a gamble on him to lead their talented roster.

Dolphins general manager Chris Grier has already shown hesitation with most of his key players, including Tagovailoa, who has shown durability issues. When healthy, Tagovailoa has played great, and Hill likes him as his quarterback.

Rodgers, on the other hand, has been a public relations nightmare for the New York Jets in the last two seasons. Last season, Rodgers completed 63% of his passes for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. This was with the disaster that took place with the dysfunction from ownership, the front office, and the coaching staff.

Rodgers has shown to play well at his age and now has a personal grudge against the Jets, an AFC East rival of the Dolphins. Grier might be the only one to make this move to go for Rodgers and trade away Tagovailoa. Rodgers’ presence in the Dolphins’ locker room might bring some excitement enough for Hill and or Ramsey to stay in Miami for one last ride. For Rodgers, he might look to shed the bad image he has gained after two horrible years with the Jets.

For Tagovailoa, it is a fresh start with a new team that has hopes of an NFC South title. Many Dolphins fans have prematurely given up on him, but it’s always hard to gain back the respect of stubborn fans.

The Dolphins may try to get the No. 9 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft next week, but the Saints know Miami has a plan already. Realistically, a package for Tagovailoa might force the Saints to give up a second-round pick (No. 40) and one of the fourth-round picks.
