Why Vanderpump Rules Alum Lala Kent Doesn’t Believe in ‘Girl Code’

Vanderpump Rules alum Lala Kent is facing backlash after admitting that she’s over the expression “girl code.”

On April 24, Lala shared a clip from her Give Them Lala podcast on her Instagram. “I have to be honest,” she confessed. “I’m really sick of that freaking word: girl code. None of us are following it — the whole women not supporting women.”

She reasoned that people who “throw it around” create a “suffocating” environment. “You can’t expect that just because someone is another woman that you support them,” she clarified. “I have been labeled that before, and it put a tremendous target on my back. It is almost like I have to support you blindly. Because if I don’t then it’s because I don’t support women.”

Former Vanderpump Rules star Lala Kent is “really sick” of the term “girl code”

“Girl code is bogus,” one Instagram follower commented. “True friends support true friends women or men doesn’t matter. We can’t condone bad behavior just because someone is a woman.”

“We can support them and still call them out at the same time,” Lala responded. “It doesn’t mean we ‘don’t support women.’”

When another commenter implied that she wasn’t supportive of her Pump Rules co-stars, Lala clapped back, “Get the f*ck over it.”

While Vanderpump Rules Season 11 aired on Bravo, Lala initially sided with Ariana Madix against Tom Sandoval in the Scandoval incident. But as the season went on, Lala began to question her loyalties. She caught some fan backlash for that.

“I’m going to be real about Ariana,” the mom of two said at the time. “She coasts through every single f*cking season. And we are asking you to have one conversation with Tom Sandoval … That guy, who you still live with [though in separate parts of the house]. We are asking you to have one conversation, and you can’t do that?”

At one point, Lala made an apology of sorts to her podcast audience. “I’ve made comments on this podcast … that were not kind … It’s no secret that I react off of emotion most of the time. I have always been that way. It gets me into a lot of trouble. It puts me into hot water.”

Wanting to start fresh with her fans, Lala added, “It’s also made me have to apologize more than anyone should have to … because I simply see something I don’t like, hear something I don’t like, and go for the jugular because I feel hurt.”
