One NBA expert thinks that the Golden State Warriors need to address some key roster problems ahead of next season.
In one of the biggest surprises this season, the Golden State Warriors have made zero roster moves during this offseason.
Given how much stronger the Houston Rockets and Denver Nuggets have become with their signings and trades, you would think the Warriors would try to match that energy.
Draymond Green even told the Warriors how to build around Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler. But the Warriors have done absolutely nothing to address their gaps.
And this silence has led to the Warriors losing key players, as Kevon Looney signed with the New Orleans Pelicans after nearly a decade with the Warriors.
And it’s not like the Warriors have some perfect roster. In fact, one NBA insider doesn’t know who can help the pairing of Curry and Butler next season.

Rob Mahoney says Golden State Warriors roster can’t help Stephen Curry or Jimmy Butler
Rob Mahoney made an appearance on Zach Lowe’s podcast. When discussing the Golden State Warriors, the two agreed on their issue.
Mahoney struggles with naming the players who will help Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler preserve their bodies. While they can perform well in the playoffs, Mahoney doesn’t know if they have the roster to get there.
“To me, what I’m getting stuck on is – I fully believe, because we have just seen it, that the Warriors with Jimmy [Butler] are fully capable of that kind of end-season sprint.
“They know that they have this many games till the end of the year after getting Jimmy. They have to push hard for the finish line to secure playoff seeding as best they can. We know they can do that.
“Who are the players on this roster who are going to make Steph [Curry] and Jimmy’s jobs easier for 82 games?… I don’t know if they get to 82 (games) with this group…
“Who are the guys who are helping Steph and Jimmy save their legs? Who are the guys who are helping them get to the finish line?
“Because we know if they can get there, they’re going to be competitive with some of the best teams in the league… This is maybe of too many 16-game players and not enough 82-game players.”
Mike Dunleavy must inject the roster with some youth
At this point, the Golden State Warriors have no choice but to start adding some younger players to their roster.
We know that Al Horford and De’Anthony Melton will join the Warriors soon. But they are also veteran players who have struggled with injuries and fatigue in years past.
Not to mention, the Warriors could possibly lose Jonathan Kuminga to the Charlotte Hornets. For every young player the Warriors lose, they seem to be replacing them with older stars.
We’ve seen that a team comprised mostly of veteran players just cannot work in the NBA. This was one of the many reasons the 2021-22 LA Lakers failed so miserably.
If the Warriors want to capitalize on the final years of Stephen Curry and Draymond Green’s era, they must start adding some younger players to their roster.
Warriors GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. must start making some moves to add some reliable youth to this team to help the veterans compete.
