After the success of The Golden Bachelor and The Golden Bachelorette, Bachelor In Paradise is taking the uncharted step of merging the franchise’s most successful spin-offs. BIP season 10 will feature singles from The Bachelor and The Bachelorette as well as contestants from both inaugural Golden seasons. Although the exact setup remains unconfirmed, it’s been speculated that the Golden cast will have their own separate, simultaneous competition taking place on the beach. Regardless of how the season plays out, the contestants are in for a treat with their new accommodations.
Bachelor In Paradise Season 10 Was Filmed At Azura Beach Resort
The Resort Is Located In Costa Rica
As the premiere nears, Entertainment Weekly revealed exclusive details about Bachelor In Paradise’s new location. Season 10 was filmed at Azura Beach Resort, an all-inclusive, adults-only hotel located in Playa Samara on Costa Rica’s Nicoya Peninsula. The Azura Resorts website boasts “lush vegetation, a golden coast and the tranquil waters of the Pacific Ocean.” The hotel offers swim-up suites, a spa, five restaurants, and romantic wedding and honeymoon packages.
Season 10 will be the first time Bachelor In Paradise has been filmed outside Mexico. The first season took place in Tulum, Quintana Roo, before moving to Sayulita for seasons 2 through 9. The location is just one of the many changes ahead, with BIP emerging from its nearly two-year hiatus with a modern, refreshed feel.
The BIP Lodging Is Getting An Upgrade From Past Seasons
Open-Air Hotel Rooms Are A Thing Of The Past
Although Bachelor In Paradise has always provided an unforgettable experience, the lodging hasn’t always been luxurious. Contestants endured notoriously rustic conditions, including a lack of air conditioning. The open-air hotel rooms allowed crabs and other critters to migrate in from the beach. However, that will all change in season 10.
EW reports that “rather than sweating it out in open-air hotel rooms, every contestant will enjoy a room with four walls, air conditioning, and a private pool.” While the contestants will continue to share rooms, they won’t be confined to bunk beds. For beach lounging, the daybeds will be traded in for “more civilized couches and chaise lounges.”
New show-runner Scott Teti explained, “The hotel is more upscale and has a sexy chicness to it that feels more elevated than the traditional kind of Paradise world that we've been in.” He cited “amazing views,” a “private and unique” beach, and a location that “feels remote and upscale and sexy at the same time.” Producers aimed for a more sophisticated feel overall, with an upgraded filming style including new cameras and shooting techniques.
While the upgrade was certainly deserved, it’s likely that the change in location was at least partially inspired by the new cast. With cast members from The Golden Bachelor and The Golden Bachelorette joining the younger contestants, comfort is more of a priority than in past seasons. Producers rightfully want to protect their talent from heat stroke, so it makes sense that they’re stepping up their game and providing a more comfortable environment.
Who Are The BIP Season 10 Contestants?
Only A Small Number Of Contestants Have Been Confirmed
With the Bachelor In Paradise premiere still a month away, ABC has yet to reveal the full cast lineup. However, several cast members have been confirmed, including Bachelor contestants Kat Izzo and Zoe McGrady, as well as Bachelorette alums Hakeem Moulton and Jonathan Johnson. The first Golden contestants to be announced were Leslie Fhima and Gary Levingston.
In addition to the contestants, some familiar faces will appear in supportive roles. Wells Adams will return for his seventh season as the BIP bartender. Special Forces' Hannah Brown, who appeared in The Bachelorette season 15, also joins the cast. On Bachelor in Paradise, she's a hostess and confidante.
Bachelor In Paradise is coming back from its hiatus better than ever, and it couldn’t come at a more critical time. After the Bachelor franchise’s series of scandals and unsuccessful seasons, it’s more important than ever to put a new spin on the beloved beach competition. With the addition of Golden contestants and a refreshed setting, BIP season 10 promises to be unforgettable.
