Washington Commanders general manager Adam Peters has worked tirelessly this offseason to add the necessary tools for his team. He bolstered the defense, added protection for Jayden Daniels, added weapons for Daniels, and ensured depth across the roster. Head coach Dan Quinn is stepping in to do his part now through offseason workouts and training camp.
Organizations hope that all of the work put in during the offseason will result in a better season than last year. While what Peters has done looks good on paper, we won't really know until the team hits the field this fall if he did enough. Plenty of media analysts and reporters are predicting that Jayden Daniels will have a sophomore slump, and Bleacher Report says that's the organization's biggest nightmare situation.
Washington Commanders: If Jayden Daniels pulls a C.J. Stroud from 2024.

Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud ended his rookie campaign with a 100.8 quarterback rating and a 58.3 QBR. At the end of his sophomore campaign, he had an 87 quarterback rating and 49.8 QBR. He threw five interceptions and took 38 sacks in 2023, while in 2024 he threw 12 interceptions and 52 sacks. Not all of that is his fault, but he definitely took a step back during his second season.
Daniels, though, is not the same quarterback as Stroud, nor are they the same person. They are in two different environments with different supports in place and different life experiences that led them to where they are. Daniels may not be as productive in 2025 as he was in 2024, but that doesn't mean that he's having a slump. Maybe it's because that's what is being asked of him since he has better protection and more weapons in 2025.
