The Green Bay Packers are up for a huge division clash against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday afternoon, and the team received a stern warning from rival wide receiver Justin Jefferson.
According to the one-time NFL Offensive Player of the Year winner, the Minnesota Vikings have circled the Green Bay Packers Week 17 game on their calendars because of the high stakes involved. Minnesota is on an eight-game winning streak, and beating Green Bay would aid their quest to reclaim the top spot in the NFC North since they have the same record as the Detroit Lions (13-2).
“The competition in our division is definitely high, especially with us still competing for the no. 1 spot. Detroit is still a dominant team, and Green Bay is also a dominant team. This year has definitely been crazy, just to see the talent we have on our side of the division. These last two games are big for us,” Jefferson said in a recent presser via The Purple Persuasion on X (formerly known as Twitter).
“Just going against Green Bay, you know. Everybody knows we hate them, and they hate us. The fans know the whole rivalry in general is something to get juiced up about,” he concluded.
Green Bay Packers out to avenge their Week 4 defeat
The Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Vikings have met earlier this season, with the latter winning 31-29 at Lambeau Field. Minnesota’s victory was fueled by a dominant first half, where they outscored Green Bay 28-7 and hung on.
Sam Darnold went 20-of-28 of his pass attempts for 275 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. His top target was Justin Jefferson, who recorded six catches for 85 yards and one touchdown on eight targets.
The Minnesota Vikings spoiled Jordan Love’s comeback from a knee injury he suffered during Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Jordan Love went 32-of-54 on his pass attempts for 389 yards, four touchdowns, and three interceptions.
